Are you on the hunt for the perfect group fitness class to match your goals?
With so many choices available, it can be challenging to decide where to begin.
Entering the world of health and fitness can be a daunting task so it is important to understand your motivation, goals, and ambitions so that you can select a training option you can adhere to long term.
Here is our Wellstrong guide to group fitness and how to pick the right training option that best suits your fitness and health goals.
Everybody has different goals, ambitions or motivations when it comes to exercise and training. The most important factor when it comes to group exercise, is to pick the right style of training to best match your goals.
Whether you’re aiming for weight loss, strength building, general fitness, injury recovery or stress relief, knowing what you want to achieve can help you select the best training option to match your motivations.
A person who wants to increase their strength might prefer a class that focuses on lifting heavy weights, using dumbbells and kettlebells whereas another person with the same goals might prefer to use cable machines and lighter weights.
The point is that everyone is unique and has their own preferences when it comes to how they want to achieve their goals. If you are able to identify 3-4 key aspects of exercise or training that are important to you, it can help guide you to the right training option.
4 things to consider when choosing the right group training for you:
1. What is your favourite style of training?
- E.g. cardio, weights, machines, etc
2. What environment do you like to train in?
- Do I like big groups?
- How loud do I like the music to be?
- Do I like large or smaller spaces?
- Do I need lots of encouragement?
3. Do you have a clear goal for training?
- I know want I want to achieve
- I want to exercise but don’t have any specific goals I want to achieve
- I have no idea, I just like to move!
4. How do you like to be coached?
- I like to be told what to do
- I need a little guidance but mostly independent
- I’m a complete novice and I’d like to learn and be taught
- I am pretty confident and just need some fine tuning
Use these questions as a guide to really give yourself a clearer understanding about yourself, your exercise goals, and what you are looking for in a group class setting.
Our group training options
Wellstrong offers two unique small group classes; Move and Perform
Move Classes
30 minutes
Move classes are a great way for anybody of any age or ability, to fit movement into their day.
The 30-minute class time is convenient for those who are looking to start their day with healthy, whole body movement, or get on their feet after a long day behind the desk at work.
Each class is designed in-house by our expert coaches with a focus on variety, fun, and quality movement. Participants can expect to complete 6-8 unique exercises in a circuit style, with 30 seconds work intervals followed by 30 seconds of rest.
Exercises are selected carefully with the goal of ensuring anybody can join a class and feel confident in their ability to complete all aspects of the session.
If you are someone who enjoys movement, wants to train to improve your overall health and wellbeing, are new to exercise and want to experience movement in a safe, comfortable environment, or wanting to squeeze exercise into your busy daily schedule, then Move classes are for you.

Perform Classes
45 minutes
Our premier Perform classes provide participants with the chance to explore their physical capabilities to the fullest.
These group classes are designed to challenge your muscular strength, power, and endurance across a range of intermediate and advanced athletic movements.
With a class length of 45 minutes, the Perform class offers participants the opportunity to push, pull, and carry heavy weight across a range of traditional resistance training movements.
The expert coaches at Wellstrong will ensure that you develop excellent movement technique so that you can feel safe and confident to challenge your own boundaries and discover how much your body can do!

How we approach group training
Our group classes are exclusively capped at 8 participants, ensuring that every attendee receives plenty of personalised coaching and support.
Small group fitness classes offer a unique blend of personalisation and motivation that can significantly enhance your workout experience. With fewer participants, coaches can provide more individualised attention, ensuring that each client receives tailored coaching, relevant to their ability and goals.
